Though the BJP candidate from the Moradabad Lok Sabha constituency, Sarvesh Kumar had won the seat in 2014 by a margin of 87,504 by defeating his nearest SP rival, S T Hasan the former had trailed behind the latter in the Moradabad Rural assembly segment by 17076 votes.
